Grief Play Guide
Grief can be hard to put into words, especially for children. This free, interactive guide offers gentle games and practical guidance for every age, from preschoolers to adults, and for many kinds of loss: the death of a loved one or a pet, divorce, moving, illness, an expected loss, or a sudden or traumatic death.

Choose who is grieving and what kind of loss it is, and the guide adapts. You’ll see what grief can look like at that age, words that help (and words to avoid), and games you can play together, like Inside Weather, Memory Jar, Talk Cards and Balloon Breathing. Each game includes a tip for the grown-up guiding it.

Nothing you type in the guide is saved or shared. These activities support grief but don’t replace professional care. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988 (US).
