Fentanyl awareness: why testing matters

Fentanyl is one of the biggest dangers that faces our youth today. It’s a synthetic opioid that you can’t see, taste, or smell. Fentanyl is 50x stronger than heroin and is often found in fake pills or powders. 

• Test strips detect fentanyl in pills or powder. They are easy to use and save lives.

• Naloxone (Narcan): an overdose reversal medication that anyone can carry. 

• Overdose basics: call 911, use naloxone if available, place the person on their side. 

Testing drugs and carrying naloxone does not encourage use, but rather prevent funerals.
